About downloading MakeCode program to micro: bit on iPad

- To check if the Bluetooth on iPad is already turned on, and to make sure the micro: bit app is allowed to use Bluetooth in the setting (you can search ‘micro: bit’ to check the details in iPad setting).                  

 

- In iPad setting, delete all the micro: bit installations that are already connected to Bluetooth.                                                          

 

- On the home page of the micro: bit app, select ‘Choose micro: bit’ (of micro: bit already exists, please press on the trash bin button to cancel the original micro: bit first).

 

- After pressing ‘Pair a new micro: bit’, enter ‘pairing mode’ according to the instructions.                                                     

 

- Go back to the home page and press ‘Flash’ after the connection.                                

 

- Enter ‘pairing mode’ once again by following the instructions, download the program to micro: bit.                                      

 

- If it fails to download, repeat pressing ‘Flash’ for one to two times.

Q. Unable to download programs to micro: bit?

- Press and hold A, B and reset button at the same time.                                                  

 

- Release the reset button.                            

 

- Release A and B buttons after the picture remains still.

Q. How to put micro: bit into ‘pairing mode’?

If it fails to enter ‘pairing mode’ anyway after following all the instructions and procedures to enter the mode (for instance, the status of micro: bit only seems to be restarting after all the steps), you can try to download a simple micro: bit program (e.g. display when the computer is turned on) with MakeCode on computer, with the use of USB cable. Afterwards, retry entering pairing mode on iPad.

About inno:bit extension board

- Switch off the power of inno:bit. There is a charging USB port on the left side of the inno:bit. Plug in a micro-USB cable (which is the same as the USB cable used by micro:bit) to the charging port. The inno:bit can then be charged by connecting the USB cable to a power source, such as a mobile phone charger or the USB port of a computer.

 

Notes:

  1. The red and green lightings near the charging port represent “charging” and “fully charged” respectively.

  2. It is recommended to unplug the USB cable after the inno:bit is fully charged.

  3. It is NOT recommended to switch on the power of inno:bit during charging.
